Guest Lecture by Chairman Permanent Lok Adalat

Introduction

The students of RNB Global University attended a Guest Lecture on 17th December 2021. The guest lecturers were Mr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma (Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat) who spoke on the topic Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women & Advocate Ajay Purohit (Former President of Bikaner Bar Association) who spoke about Road Accidents and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Why did the university organize Guest Lecture?

School of Law, RNB Global University strives to provide the best learning environment to its students by organizing various activities, seminars and webinars. These kinds of activities are necessary for the all over development of students.

Guest speakers make students aware of current scenarios and situations. In a classroom students’ study about the concepts, however, guest speakers provide a broader view on the real-life problems faced by them and also presents solutions.

Objectives of Guest Lecture

The invitation of experts as guest lecturers offers students the opportunity to meet passionate, committed and critical people and to learn from them in various ways. Guest lecturers provide an important educational experience for students based on their real-world life experiences. Students get to see the insight and perspective of the guest lecturers’ specific field. The format can enable students to interact with professionals in formal and informal settings.

About Guest Lecture

The main objective of the guest lecture was to introduce and educate the students with the Law on Motor Vehicles Act and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace. The speaker discussed and elaborated various topics during both the session.

Some of the topics discussed during the 1st Session are as –

  • The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
  • Importance of having a valid R.C., driving license, insurance
  • Penalties in the Act related to road offences, number plate related offences, horn related offences, traffic signal related offences, speed and overtake related offences, offences related to pollution, offences related to condition of your vehicle and offences related to parking
  • The Amendment of 2019

Some of the topics discussed during the 2nd Session are as -

Ø  The Applicability of POSH Act

Ø  The scope of the Act

Ø  Various forms of actions which can be considered as Sexual Harassment under the Act.

The Internal Complaint Committee and its duties, composition.
