RNB Global University, located in the rural area of Bikaner district, which falls in Thar Desert, strives to create a sustainable ecosystem aligned with UN SDGs.

Its goals include environmental conservation, green practices, rainwater harvesting, solar energy use, waste management, and promoting a pollution-free, eco-friendly campus through plantation activities and green energy and sensitizing community.

University, align its activities with the duty of every citizen, to protect & improve the natural environment as outlined in Indian constitution.

Since inception, it has prioritized environmental conservation, believing it requires collective effort.

Located in a desert with extreme temperatures, scarce rainfall, deep groundwater, and xerophytic flora, the university leads by example, promoting green practices to foster a sustainability-focused mindset.

University has also introduced various courses in PG & UG classes on Environment conservation & sustainability, and they also align with UNSDG

The Following UN SDG were targeted-

UN SDG 3- Good Health and Wellbeing

Lush Green Campus, free from pollutants provides oxygen rich air.

Well illuminated & Ventilated Classrooms, provides natural lights and a conducive environment for learning.

Ban on Plastic, keeps the environment neat and clean.

Zero tolerance for Tobacco & Alcohol; sensitize the students & faculty members for their good health.

Green Energy initiatives, like Solar Plant, use of e-cart & bicycles reduces carbon emission and motivates students towards physical exercise.

UNSDG 4- Quality Education

Modern education by learned and experienced faculty members at an affordable cost.

A wide range of Scholarship has been offered to needy students

Focus on Research Based Education & Experiential Learning- Faculty members and students to encourage conducting research.

For experiential learning well equipped laboratories teaching tools like case study, Quizzes, conclaves and seminars are conducted.

For enhancing transparency and efficiency in Academics & Administration, University has adopted Digital Governance. ERP & LMS developed by TC-iON is in operation.

UNSDG 6- Clean Water and Sanitation

Rain water harvesting system is operational in University. Rain water storage tank of five lakh liter is constructed. Open well & Bunds are constructed for rain water conservation.

Proper signages are placed for encouraging students to preserve water.

RO Plant installed for clean water, waste water from them are used for cleaning floors and in fountains.

STP has been installed for treating sewerage.

UNSDG 7- Affordable and Clean Energy

For energy conservation, LED lights, motion sensors, and timer-based devices are installed.

Air conditioners are efficiently monitored by Intelligent Touch Controller device, of DAIKIN.

A Solar power plant of 50 KWH is operational.

Fly Ash bricks have been used in the construction of building, as the result the inner temperature is maintained and reduces energy consumption.

The glasses with a special pyrolitic coating that provides superior UV protection are used in façade which keeps inner temperature low.

 UNSDG 13- Climate Action

For Climate Action, University not only sensitizes its members towards climate change and environment conservation, but also conducts various awareness activities in community.

In terms of community outreach, the university has adopted Five nearby villages—Khara, Dandusar, and Husansar, Jamsar and Bichwal.

Students regularly conduct activities such as Nukkad Natak &  Rallies to educate and motivate residents on environmental preservation.

They also educate farmers on modern agricultural practices.

Environmental commemorative days are celebrated to further emphasize the importance of sustainability.

University actively encourage and participates in community plantation drives.

 UNSDG 13- Climate Action

University believes that increasing green cover on land is one of the most important factors, which can contribute for this goal.

Around 5000 plants have been planted in the university campus.  Plantation & Green cover in campus has preserved the desert fauna.

No existing animal or xerophytes plants have been harmed/removed from the campus.

Neem Farm, Date Palm Farm, Orchard and Plant Nursery has been established in the campus.

Challenges faced-

Geographic location, harsh climate, extreme temperatures, scarcity of fresh water.

High initial cost & investment in shifting to green energy/ practices, University considered to invest with long term perspective.

Initial difficulties in community participation were resolved by partnering  with Panchayats & NGO.
