Guest Lecture on Relevance of Theatre in Present Context

Feb 28, 2018

Mr. Gurcharan Singh Channi, Documentary Maker, TV Filmmaker, Actor, Eminent Theatre Personality, Playwright and activist, alumnus of Department of Indian Theatre, National School of Drama (NSD), Recipient of Sangeet Natak Academy award for community theatre, interacted with the students of RNB Global University in which he highlighted the importance and relevance of Theatre in Present Context.

During the session, Mr. Channi said that studying Drama and Performing Arts not only engages the students with the creative side of the brain, it also provides an ideal balance in students’ patterns of study. He further elaborated that Drama and the performing arts serve to generate a rich array of reciprocal benefits like discipline, punctuality and awareness for both students and our community. It’s easy for children to become swamped in a sea of theory, which is why subjects that offer practical learning are essential.

The ultimate aim of such interactions is to provide students with a well-rounded education, which means Drama and Performing Arts will be a strong focus into the future.
