The smallest act of kindness is bigger than the grandest intention – Oscar Wilde
RNB Global University strongly believes knowledge, competence & resources should be utilized for the welfare and upliftment of society. True to their core values RNBians set out to make this Republic day meaningfully patriotic by organizing a Clothes Donation Drive scheduled for the 26th of Jan 2017.
The seeds of which were sown a month earlier when Times of India on its web page reported cold wave conditions intensifying across the state of Rajasthan, where majority of the places recorded minimum temperatures below the normal notch. Bikaner reported a temperature of 6.5 degrees and a further dip in temperature was predicted.
In the New Year extreme cold gripped the region, it was tough enough for people snuggling under heavy coats and jackets to fight the cold leave alone the ones who had only, but a ripped blanket to protect them.
Therefore as planned moving past symbolic gestures on the 68th Republic Day the students and staff of RNB under its social initiative arm “Maanavta Ki Unchi Udaan” carried out the “Clothes Donation Drive” in an effort to help the needy.
Experiencing the act of giving firsthand, the students recognized that there exists an invisible gap in our society. They also realized their role as future responsible citizens and leaders to bridge this gap in their relevant field. Not only did students pledge to be a part and organize such events in future but many of them also decided to associate voluntarily and work on building various Social Development projects at the University level.
This drive that was meant to mark our Republic day in a meaningful way by giving back to the community became much more than that, it became a life-changing event for many and has kindled the Samaritan spirit amongst the RNBGU campus members.
