About the Visit:
The Industrial visit to Suratgarh was completed successfully, which was started from the University Campus around 8:00 AM the students form the different programme of SOCM department went.
The visit was organized by Sandeep Saxena Asstt. Professor –SOCM to Provide a platform for the students to explore the knowledge related to the production & operations management as well the students also get the exposure about that how does the different departments are operating & controlling their operations & manpower.
In the visit students learned about the production of electricity where they get acquaintained that by using the coal, air & water how does the electricity is being produced.
Students also get acquaintained with various procession system of different work stations that is how the processing of the raw material like coal, water even air also is being utilized at different work station.
The maintenance incharge Mr. Hardev Singh helped a lot in arranging the visit. The university is very thankful to all the concerned authorities of the plant for their time & support by providing some practical knowledge to the students.
About the plant-
Suratgarh Super Thermal Power Station is Rajasthan's first super thermal power station. It is located 27 km away from Suratgarh town in Ganganagar district. The power plant is operated by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. The power plant has 6 units that can produce 250 megawatt and 2 units can produce 660 MW.
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUN) has been entrusted with the job of development of power projects under state sector, in the state along with operation & maintenance of state owned power stations. Government of Rajasthan constituted the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUN) under Companies Act-1956 on 19th July, 2000. The Nigam is since playing lead role in giving highest priority to the power generation for manifold and rapid development of the state.
The generating Stations of RVUN have acquired a distinctive reputation in the country for their efficient and economic power generation...

Achievements of the firm-
Since starting of 1st unit, it is getting awards from government of India consistently for its performance. for 1999-2000 shield has been given to sstps for meritorious productivity. For year 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 & 2003-04 sstps is given meritorious productivity gold shield, awarded by hon'ble president of India dr. A. P. J. Abdul kalam on 24-aug-2004. Hon'ble prime minister of India Dr. Manmohan singh awarded the shield to sstps on 21-03-2007 for performance in 2005-06.
