In today’s era being multilingual is more important than just knowing a foreign language other than your own native language. This trend has evolved to be extremely beneficial as viewed from both financial and social aspects. Being able to communicate in a foreign language helps to make “Real” connection with people and provide a better understanding of your people.
The Language Workshop on “SPANISH” at RNB Global University organised over a period of two days from 19th to 20th February 2016 was another add on to the efforts at RNB as we stride from milestone to milestone towards skies of wisdom and knowledge.
The Resource Person and speaker for the workshop Mrs. Prerna Sharma , with a proficiency in Spanish with distinction from the School of Foreign Languages, The Ministry of Defence was welcomed on the 19th morning as the workshop was set rolling with the opening address by the Honourable President where he with his motivational words explained the importance of a language workshop, emphasising that we if understand languages we understand cultures , and that makes us happily adapt to the work environment in a globally growing economy.
Mrs. Prerna Sharma started with salutations and then she moved on to explaining the culture and history of Spain and thereof the origin of the language. The mystery of the language unfolded in a very interactive manner in the two days, and it was very encouraging for her to see that all participants had done a little study before attending the workshop.
In the first technical session she covered the vowels, then the alphabets with examples for each. In the second technical session post lunch it was the salutations which she covered again in a very interactive manner.
On day two, 20th February 2016, the workshop resumed with a little revision of the previous day and for regular salutations with the candidates the speaker Mrs. Prerna Sharma used Spanish as a means of communication and the reciprocation from the students was indeed overwhelming.
She went on to elaborate on sentence construction for simple conversations that we do in our day to day routine. She then moved on to certain nuances of the language, also answering queries of the students as they came mid-way.
She also went on to explain how the students interested in taking on Spanish as a subject and then career can proceed and the opportunities that are there in the market , if anyone wants to make this his/her career.
Post lunch in the fourth and concluding session of the two day workshop with a few tests with MCQ’s which were attempted by all including the faculty members with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
Towards the end it was then time for “Adieus” as all thanked her for her presence and her support in making yet another event at RNB a grand success.
