One Day Training Program on “Rights of Women” in Collaboration of NHRC

A One day Training program on "Rights of Women" in collaboration with National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi was organized at University Campus.
 
Dr. G. S. Karkara, Hon’ble, Dean, School of Law, gave a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. The training program was enriched by the support and presence of intellectuals from various fields, Research Scholars, Faculty members and women in general along with a gathering of 100 students.
 
Prof. (Dr.) M. Afjal Wani, Dean GGSIP University, Delhi & Former Member Indian Law Commission, Government of India, New Delhi, addressed the students in his beautiful speech. He emphasized that the society, which is patriarchal in nature requires a much needed change. He beautifully illustrated the origin of Human rights by quoting examples of “Golden Rule" of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He further quoted the Hindu Vedas, the Babylonian Code of Hammurabi, the Bible, the Quran (Koran), and the Analects of Confucius are five of the oldest written sources which address questions of people’s duties, rights, and responsibilities.
 
In the second session, Prof. (Dr.) K.P.S Mahalwar, National Law School Delhi & Former Head & Dean, Dept. of Law, Rohtak University, Rohtak emphasized about the importance of having a dream, and acknowledging the strength each one possesses within them, to create a better society. His inspiring words and his charisma shone forth from his words and met with a great applause. The jewel in the crown was the address given by Prof. S.S. Lal, Former Head & Dean, Department of Law, Rajasthan University, Jaipur (Rajasthan). He vividly explained the Violence against women & Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. His speech was eye opening and heart wrenching to one and all. His experience and her efforts were highly commended and praised.
 
In the last and concluding session, Prof. U.C. Sankhla methodically construed “Legal Provision for Women at Workplace” and gracefully and factually answered all the students’ queries. He also enlightened the students regarding the “Investigation of Crime against Women” its procedure and methods. He highlighted the “Legal Aspects of Social Issues related to women” via real life examples and his immense knowledge.
 
At the end of the day, not only where students legally empowered but where filled with faith and hope to reach out to more people and work hand in hand with the law to make India the best version of itself.
