RNB global University organized a national industrial visit for Chandigarh, the best-planned city in India, with architecture which is world-renowned, and a quality of life, which is unparalleled, where students visited Chandigarh plant of Mahindra Swaraj. RNBian’s were given an opportunity to interact with the employees of Swaraj Group where use of innovative spirit for cost leadership, quality leadership and technology leadership are the core values. The students interacted with shop-floor workers and gained insight about quality control techniques like Kaizen, TQM, TPM and SOP’s which have been implemented by the company in every sphere of its manufacturing operations. The students also came across various divisions of the unit which are light machine shop, heavy machine shop, heat treatment shop, paint shop and assembly unit. The visit also threw light on the latest innovations and products added by the group which include harvesting combine, fork lifts.
Students also visited Verka Milk Plant Chandigarh, which was established in 1962 by Government of Punjab, where the students learned the process and managerial aspects of Production of Tetra Pak products (Milk, Fermented Milk & Fruit Drink) in 200 ml & 1000 ml packing, different varieties of Ice Cream & indigenous sweets like Milk Cake, Kaju Pinni and sugar free Peda & Milk Cake. Students also visited Le-Corubusier center, a museum depicting developmental history of Chandigarh as Planned city by the well known architecture Le-Corbiusier. His life achievements and contribution in planning of chandigarh was seen at the museum.
The visit to such places enabled the students to get a glimpse of the industry so as to get a practical exposure in real time. The understanding of management operations to a great extent through this visit helped in brushing up the skills of future managers, which forms an integral part of management studies.
