Guest lecture on Modern Retail in India

RNBGU organised an interactive session for MBA students on “Modern Retail in India” by Ms. Megha Bhargava, Deputy GM – Buying and Merchandising-Levi’s and Nike Fitness in which she shared her vast experience in Retail Industry, multiple channel retailing and discussed the concept of Retail Planning, Buying, Merchandising and Visual Merchandising. Her effortless way of explaining the difficult concepts made the students understand wider perspective of corporate industry.
 
She also explained that how the mode of doing business has shifted from physical retail outlets to the online shopping, and highlighted some benefits of the online marketing and trading. She also emphasized the concept of merchandising strategy and challenges faced under the same. During the discussion she said that Retailing is very different from other industries. As in any other services industry in retail human aspect is of prime importance. With technological advances there have been changes in retail environment. However this has only increased the importance of human resources as well.
 
She also focused on importance of various inter disciplinary fields with modern retail like Customer relationship management, Store image, Sales promotion, Public relations, Labelling and ultimate factor i.e. Human Resource which she referred as the most important factor.
 
Students were very curious to learn the working of the retail Industry in India and abroad.
