On 15 February, 2017 School of Law of RNB Global University conducted the 2nd Inter-departmental Moot Court Competition in the Campus Moot Court Hall. The case study dealt with Indian Penal Code 1860 and Indian Evidence Act 1872 comprising the sections 34, 120A, 304B, 300 and 113 A and B of Evidence Act. The case study was about “Bride Burning” in which students argued in varied way. The arguments between parties were containing proper evidence and proof to make a valid session. The issues for the arguments were:
- Whether Kusum, the victim had committed suicide or is it a case of homicide?
- Whether the in-laws of the victim demanded for dowry?
- Whether in-laws of the victim were having mens rea to cause death?
- Whether the in-laws will be liable for the offence of criminal conspiracy?
Each team has also submitted with proper memorial of the issues with argument. There were total 5 teams from RNBGU School of Law. The Judges for the said proceeding was Dr. Hans Raj Arora and Dr. Mahendra Gadholiya. There was interesting questioning round from Judges to each participant. All the teams gave their best performances but according to the judgement given by the Judges the winning team was Yashpal/Arif Khan as Mooters and Komalata Bhargava as their researcher. The runner up team was Divya Tulsiyani and team followed as third Mukund Rathore and team. The competition really boosts all the students, defining how and on which point they have to keep their valid argument and to overcome with stage fear with communication skill.
RNB Global University encourage their students for such mooting as this will boost their confidence and trained them for future. These types of mooting gives hand on experience to students and prepare them for their future goals.
