Guest Lecture on Nanophotonics: New Frontier in Nanotechnology
Nov 07, 2017
With an objective of adding additional value and practical exposure to the science and engineering education, SOBAS and SOET of RNB Global University organized a guest lecture by Dr. Anami Bhargava, Department of Physics, Government Dungar College, Bikaner on “Nanophotonics: New Frontier In Nanotechnology” On 07 November 2017. Dr Bhargava has a vast experience in the area of Nanotechnology and Nanosciences. Prime focus of his discussion is in the field of Nanophotonics, which is useful in various electronic devices like the mobile, computer chips, DNA chips, biomedicine and biotechnology.
Dr. Armani walks through his research of exploring and exploiting the properties of different optical materials. He first cited the most important aspects of an optical material, such as its color (emission and absorption wavelength); its ability to convert energy efficiently; how long it remains excited when stimulated; and whether we “get more output than we put in.” He looks for optical material in nature, and then superimposes another pattern on it, substantially transforming it at the atomic level. As He said that I’m sculpting out a particular environment for photons.
All the science and engineering students of attended this invited talk. The main objective of the discussion was to make students acquainted with Nanophotonics materials, their unique properties and diverse applications. Several examples of Nanophotonics were also discussed by him, which enthralled the students.
